Professor David Clarke

I am a Professor of Psychology and Head of School (2001-2005). My initial background was in medical sciences, leading on to experimental psychology, then social psychology, and latterly sequence analysis and related techniques applied to various (mostly safety critical) situations.

My current research is on road accidents, using in-depth analysis of police road accident reports; violent crime, including rape and sexual assault; the role of emotion in shaping behaviour, including the appraisal and management of risk; and new methods for analysing and predicting sequences and time-lines in behaviour.
