Dr. Nima MoghaddamI was a research associate investigating health anxiety and reasoning with Professor Eamonn Ferguson.More specifically, I tested the theoretical notion that health anxiety is related to biased cognitive processing of illness-related information. Identification of such cognitive biases could have important implications for the application of cognitive-behavioural therapy in treatment of somatoform disorders. I also explored the role of affectivity in smoking motivation as part of my PhD studies here (conducted under the supervision of Professor Eamonn Ferguson and Dr. Helen Cassaday). This programme of research applied diary-based methods to record naturalistic associations between mood and smoking embedded in time. We used multilevel modelling techniques to characterise moderation of observed temporal relationships by personality. I completed my PhD in 2006 I am currently a research fellow at the Nottingham University Medical School.
