The Hitchhiker’s Guide to PSGY1001
Preface

Ford handed the book to Arthur. “What is it?” asked Arthur. “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s a sort of electronic book. It tells you everything you need to know about anything. That’s its job.” Arthur turned it over nervously in his hands. “I like the cover,” he said. “Don’t Panic. It’s the first helpful or intelligible thing anybody’s said to me all day.”
— Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Welcome to your lab classes (also known as labs or practicals)!
The Hitchhiker’s Guide (HHG) to PSGY1001 accompanies the Moodle page for the labs. While the HHG might not tell you everything you need to know about anything, we hope it will tell you (almost) everything you need to know about the labs!
The development of the Hitchhiker’s Guide has been recognised by the University of Nottingham. In June 2023, it won a Lord Dearing Award for Teaching and Learning.
Labs vs workshops
Please note that labs are different from workshops! Workshops are a separate part of PSGY1001 and have their own classes and Moodle page:
On your Moodle dashboard, you can easily recognise the lab class Moodle page by this badge:
