Chapter 33 The Excel quiz

The Excel quiz will become available on Friday at 3pm. This is one of the three quizzes that together contribute 10% to the overall module mark (see Section 2.5). This quiz is not time-limited, but we would again recommend to complete it in one sitting. There are 17 questions overall. The first six are about Excel formulas in general. The remaining 11 require you to perform actual calculations on a data set using Excel. The deadline for submitting the quiz is Wednesday, 16 February at 5pm.

33.1 Excel quiz walkthrough

Please find a video of Karl completing the Excel analysis steps required for the quiz below. We selected a file randomly for this walkthrough. As it turns out, it is a participant with a negative interference score. This provides me with an opportunity to remind you of the problem of negative interference effects (see end of Chapter 31). If you have any thoughts on this, please post on the Moodle forum!

If you would like to check if you get the same results, you can download the file Karl uses here.

The mean mark for this quiz was 60.4, the minimum 5.88 and the maximum 100 (achieved by 14 students - congratulations!). If you did not do well, please do make sure to attempt the analysis again using the example file provided above and to also watch Karl’s video walkthrough to check your results.
